Nike has been using this tag line for many decades, and it is so key for this time of year. When the holiday buzz and rush makes you want to cut out your self-care, you have to remember: Just do it!
It only takes a few minutes to do a bit of cardio and get your heart pumping; do 10 minutes of yoga; meditate or journal for 5 minutes. It will make you feel more connected and calm in a time when this can be a rarity.
Top 3 things to keep up your self-care during the bustle of the holidays:
- Put it in your schedule. We all have the best intentions when we go to bed or first wake up, but once the day gets going – between the kids, traffic, work lunches and extra shopping – it can be easy to forget to do your regular self-care activities. Increasing your chiropractic checks to weekly can have a huge impact on how your body is responding to stress.
- Buddy Up! An accountability partner or group is so helpful when you feel too distracted to maintain your best practices. There is definitely someone else at work, in your apartment building or in your family who could also use the benefits of someone keeping them accountable to their health goals. It doesn’t have to be a lot, maybe a quick text or phone call. Just do it!
- Drink more water. Even the simple act of drinking more water can help keep you on track with your health goals. When you are stressed, we can easily get dehydrated. Being dehydrated is stressful for the body! So, to stay ahead of this cycle, drink at least one glass of pure water every hour you are awake. This is a great way to ensure your body is fueled throughout the day.
January is just around the corner, and the more steps you take each day to stick to your health plan and self-care, the better you’ll survive the holiday season – entering the New Year feeling optimistic and more confident that your new health goals are well within your reach.
JUST DO IT!
